HowEverySupplementWorks.com should be a FAIRLY straightforward concept.
However, if it’s not I’ll be glad to explain it to you! Not a worry.
This website is meant to outline the mechanism of action and practical use behind every single supplement product on the Western Market. (Because I’m from the United States.)
I’m not highly interested in doing multiple variations that aren’t common place like a normal supplement specifically formulated by XYZ company with SOME weird complex that boosts it’s bioavailability.
For example:
Magnesium, magnesium l-threonate, BRAND NEW (magNEOSium Hyper-complexed ionized delta wave formulation. BY XYZ CORP!!)
I’ll gladly outline differences in Magnesium, l-threonate, and bisglycinate/ etc.
Whether they all get lumped into one post, or multiple others based on specific use depends on the day.
The exception to these will be few and far between: like bioperine, ksm66, plus some other tried and true products (and also at my discretion, because it’s my blog and If I think the product is a big money-grab with hardly any translatable benefit, I want no part in it. that would piss me off as a reader/viewer.)
Anyway, if you are still reading… uh, hi.
Here’s my backstory into Fitness/Supplements and why I’m a bit annoying/hyper-ambitious/passionate about this blog.
Damon, Pre- HowEverySupplementWorks.com Life
I have been deeply entrenched in fitness since I was a youngster.
I think everyone from the 90’s-early 2000’s had those yummy flintstone vitamins.
I was born in 98 and my favorite was the purple, I hated the orange one and never understood why my mom NEVER let me eat more than one growing up.
She said It’d be really bad for me to eat too many, and that perplexed me.
But, I listened to my mom a lot growing up whenever I could.
THE MAIN driving force behind my early adoption into supplements was my dad and grandfather.
My Dad was big on taking his “Carb-intercepts, b-vitamins and fat burners.”
(Despite being a bit of bigger fella himself and not really getting much benefit out of them.)
Then again, he had massive calves and huge arms for a short fella.
He’d always encourage me to go to the gym and do sports.
After I turned 13 I was allowed to weight-train and picked it up for a bit.
Once I turned 16, I started working at mcdonalds, bought myself a gym membership and TONS of supplements like protein powders, bcaa’s, and creatine.
My dad took me to a vitamin world where we got some EXPENSIVE mass-gainers, protein powders and stuff I just… ended up getting because he was hooked on the sales pitch and I didn’t know enough at the time to really push-back and get cheaper stuff that would have worked the same.. or even better.
After that I realized a few things:
- I didn’t know enough about supplements
- I did know how expensive they were going to be
- I needed to learn for my progress to speed-up outside of eating my big dinners and to move up a weightclass in wrestling.
That last portion was short-lived, I stopped wrestling a year later, solely to focus on lifting and the gym in general.
I grew up outside of the city in the middle of the country, I just worked, went to the gym and researched a TON.
After repeating this routine all throughout high-school, I eventually went to school for Nutrition and Dietetics (although, I ended up switching over to a minor in nutrition and studying philosophy for a Major since I couldn’t afford to do my dietetic internship hours and also graduate on time.)
During this time in college, I also got the opportunity to dig through THOUSANDS (yes, literally thousands.) of pay-walled articles for supplements.
When I say I read through ANYTHING regarding any and all supplements that would help my skin, hair, teeth, muscles and athleticism, I DID.
( I was a newly single guy after my freshman year in college, I wanted to look good for dates, alright?)
Over the course of about 7 years, I had PERSONALLY trialed hundreds of products that equated to thousands of dollars worth of supplements.
(Shout-out to LOADS of places for giving out additional products as apart of bundles and including HUGE/Free discounts for orders over $40 back in the days. pre-covid was a beautiful economic time.)
Also, let me be frank, I went to college absolutely broke, and just before the end of my senior year, I went fully vegan. There was NEVER a lot of money for me to throw around/waste on my supplements.
I always tried to combine products that worked synergistically, find the best version of product for “XYZ” purpose and utilize effectively for my own personalized stack.
On top of that, I also took things a step further to learn what supplements are animal derived (like vitamin D3) so I sort of felt a STRONG inclination to know a LOT of these inside and out.
Alongside of the need for looking good/fit for dating, I was (and I guess still, peripherally am) interested in bodybuilding.
That introduced me into an ENTIRE realm of health/longevity related supplements for my WHOLE body, with kidneys, liver, heart, skin, and hair becoming even more important.
Early Inception of HowEverySupplementworks.com
During the uptick of my college years, I practically knew everyone that stepped foot in the gym I went to and did weight-training in any capacity.
I’m always a relatively friendly guy and with almost everyone I’d briefly chit-chat with, they’d throw some questions my way about supplements/training/ etc.
Having a large friend group that brings atleast 10 people that are SUPER into fitness into a gym usually means new people will either know you, or know of you.
Most people knew me as “That Vegan” that also knew a TON about fitness in general.
Alongside of this, I was also meeting people outside of the gym at parties/social events.
I almost always wore fitted clothing/polos and it was pretty easy to notice I was a lean, muscular guy.
Ontop of this, I was also seeing someone that’s was going to school for exercise science and they also went to the gym, all of the time with me.
I eventually ended up spending roughly 20-30 hours a WEEK just talking about supplements, fitness and researching stuff for people. (ontop of this I made it a STRONG HABIT of getting back to everyone.)
That took a LOT of time, so much so, that in my notes It actually got to the point where I would write up “Frequently asked Questions// Stacks”
So if someone had a question about “Good beginner supplements for XYZ (idk, getting stronger)” I could copy/paste something like
“Creatine + small explanation
Caffeine + small explanation
L-Citrulline + small explanation, with what kind to get”
Solely to save myself time and personalize a few tidbits here/there for their individual plans.
After being in numerous groupchats/posts/ and getting hundreds of messages on my phone, I wanted something like this website.
Primarily so I could do posts like the above stacks, IN DEPTH, and then just link to individual supplements so people could read about individual supplements of interest.
If they were happy, they’d get the info on that page, then get all of the supplements from the post and I’d make a few bucks or get more page-views, Everyone wins.
If I don’t get affiliate commissions, I get more eyes on the website and that’s good for traffic.
In essence, This website serves two purposes for me:
#1. This is Number ONE because it is by far the most important for me, despite what anyone says about how much goes into writing/doing this myself, it will SAVE ME SO MUCH TIME IN THE LONG RUN.
People are VERY VERY capable of googling things, however; people will OFTEN not.
Also, there is a lot of different supplements, versions, and under-dosed products with some ingredients. Writing common dosages that are used for specific reasons will be advantageous for people and save me the head-ache of explaining it probably 10-20 times per year. (and for COMMON things like creatine, in excess of 30 times, already.. this year… in 2025. which is baffling considering it’s not even march yet.)
#2. I can make money.
I monetize each post as a way to make a meager portion of money back on the unfathomable amount of hours I spent studying/learning/trial and erroring these supplements out for well-over a decade.
Also, what also gets lost in the conversation, the time spent formatting, getting images, loading up photoshop to make the same format of thumbnails, getting screengrabs of affiliate products, quality controlling/spell checking and reviewing these posts and as well as sifting through the slew of citations I had or have to re-find or scavenge for them. It all adds up.
Lastly, I don’t know if anyone kind of fathoms this tidbit, but I am ONE DUDE, trying to literally easily index “How Every Supplement” is supposed to work in a practical sense for people.
There are SOOO many old-absolutely trash supplements that we have luckily abandoned, and I will voice my opinions on those, in a NOT favorable light. don’t worry.
Alongside that, there are lots of new products that we see coming out that I will be keeping up on.
Considering all of the above,
This should NOT be a surprise for ANYONE at ALL.
ESPECIALLY considering EVERY post I mention
“if you buy from these links anywhere on this page, I may make money, at no additional cost to you.”
If you REALLY have a problem with me making a small commission, feel free to just buy stuff in person or use another device then get it from the website, I can’t stop you.
I also ACTIVELY want people to do their own research and shop around.
If you can save $7 a month on a product I talk about and don’t want it through the brands I work with for the same product because some other place has a good deal, SNAG IT!!
I would also like to mention that I monetize this website SOLELY through affiliate commissions.
As it stands, (early 2025) I have absolutely ZERO interest in spamming people with an e-book that I need your email for or with those pop-ups for pills to make your johnson bigger.
I don’t want ads making this place absolutely abysmal.
Before I consider posting ads on the website, I’d most likely do a poll or give everyone a notice of my plan to do so, but as it stands, just affiliates.
If it came to sponsored posts, it’d have to be relevant to my interests (supplements wise), get my approval, and be pretty damn convincing in terms of $$$ and usefulness.
That post would also feature a HUGE “SPONSORED POST:” Header.
In a nutshell, that’s HowEverysupplementworks.com
Made by some nerd who learned a ton about supplements, got asked way too much about way too many things and now has a blog to “TL;DR here you go” for hopefully every question anyone could ask.
Ideally this blog is evergreen and by 2028, it’s full of a few thousand posts that people go through like it’s the library of Alexandria, but for supplements and their peripheral contents.
I’d like to not have a habit of being up at 6:30/7am and working clear up until midnight/ early morning Nearly every single day by the time I’m 30 for these things.
I also have other projects, a job and continuing education goals I am working for alongside this blog.
(Philosophyforme.com, FreeFitnessInformation.com, ontop of a handful of other fitness certifications and fields of study like genetics/sciences I’d love to share more information regarding as I become certified to speak freely/more authoritatively about.)
